Transportation Planning Intern — The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments in Oklahoma City, OK; 5/2007 - Present

  • Development of a regional geodatabase, to be incorporated in the regional growth allocation model, of school districts and service areas containing socioeconomic and demographic data

  • Maintenance and revision of land use classifications for member entities within the extent of the Oklahoma City Area Regional Transportation Study

Research Assistant — The University of Oklahoma College of Engineering in Norman, OK; 8/2007 - 12/2007

  • Conceptualized and developed the early stages of GIS-based international commodity freight flow model as part of an ODOT-funded research project

  • Provided general technical assistance to the accompanying domestic freight flow model project

Land Protection Division Intern — The Department of Environmental Quality in Oklahoma City, OK; 5/2006 - 1/2007

  • Researched and prepared an executive report, used as expert material in a special session of the Oklahoma State Senate’s Energy and Environment Committee, on the feasibility of phytoremediation for wood treatment facilities contaminated with Pentachlorophenol (creosote)

  • Produced multiple maps and GIS products concerning environmental remediation activities, brownfields, and abandoned oil and gas wells

Research Assistant —The University of Oklahoma Department of Geography in Norman, OK; 8/2005 - 1/2006

  • Assisted in the development of an algorithm, later incorporated into an NSF award-winning project, to automatically classify land use based on sub-pixel waveform analysis

  • Analyzed, collected, and cataloged tree ring samples used in a hydroclimatic reconstruction of Sahelian Africa
